Panchakarma Therapy


What is Panchakarma?
Pacnhakarma is an Ayurveda detoxification treatment which eliminates unwanted toxins from the body. It is a set of five procedures. The five procedures are Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana. Healthy balanced diet is also important for effective panchakarma treatment. Time taken for treatment is - 6-10 days for preparation, 1 day for purge, 7 days for build-up.

Vamana
Vamana is also known as medicated vomiting or emisis. It removes kapha toxins in body especially from resperatory tract. Vamana is given more to kapha dominated people. People who are suffering from Chronic Indigestion Nasal Congestion, Edema, Chronic Allergies, Hay Fever, Vitiligo, Psoriasis, Hyperacidity, Psychological disorders, Skin disorders are benefited from Vamana.

Virechana removes pitta toxins from the body. It cleans gastro-intestinal tract. It has no side effect. Peole suffering from Asthma, Diabetes, Digestive disorders, Skin disorders, Constipation, Hyperacidity, Vitiligo are benefited from Virechana.








Basti
Basti removes all three type of toxins- pitta, kapha, vatta from the body through colon. Time taken for Basti is more compared to other procedures. It benefits for Convalescence, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Cervical Spondylosis , Digestive disorders, Constipation, Backache & Sciatica.




Nasya
In Nasya, medicated oil is poured through nose for removing kapha from head and neck region. Nasya is beneficial for people suffering from Bel's Palsy , Trigeminal Neuralgia, improves memory & eye sight.







Raktamokshana
Raktamokshana is used to purifiy the blood. It is not recommended for general panchakarma therapy.








Scope of Panchakarma Therapist
Since there is no side effect for ayurveda, more people are choosing ayurveda treatment. Government is also promoting ayurveda internationally. Hence, due to demand for ayurveda tratments, many ayurveda hospitals and centers are opened. So scope of panchakarma therapist has increased. To become a therapist, one should successfully participate in a panchakarma therapy course.
